Meet Michelle
As an award winning journalist, Michelle Lee is a specialist in the coverage of human interest and medical related stories. Those offering the “secret” to positive and lasting transformations are her specialty. She’s no stranger to the art of mental, physical and spiritual transformation, personally undergoing her own remarkable transformation in 2003.
“I went from tired to inspired.” Michelle says.
A heart attack waiting to happen….wrapped in a laundry list of obesity related illnesses this Baby Boomer decided to start keeping her self promises to improve her mental, spiritual and physical health.
And she did it publicly as the main news anchor on an NBC television affiliate in the Upper Midwest.
“During my 25 years in local television, my viewers have seen me young and pregnant, grumping my way into middle age and finally tipping the scales into the danger zone in my early fifties.” Through it all the camera never blinked.
The television News Industry is built on youth and beauty. Weighing 190 pounds and speeding past the mid-century mark often means the “kiss of death” for any television anchor’s career.
Luckily, the management at Michelle’s station respected her talents and believed in her ability to serve their viewers—even though at times she had difficulty mustering the strength to believe in herself.
As she began to consider possible retirement a chance encounter with an acquaintance sparked a world class transformation that would give Michelle her life back and recharge her story telling career.
“Judy Tullius challenged me to make the lifestyle changes that saved my life.” Michelle says. “My greatest joy now is paying it forward by sharing the secret to permanent weight loss and the development of beautiful, shapely muscles and vibrant health at any age.”
Michelle’s transformation required visualization, goal setting, balanced nutrition and regular physical activities which included weight lifting and cardio vascular exercise.
Once inspired to take the challenge and make permanent changes the rewards were instantaneous.
Michelle dropped fifty pounds, built muscle and found health. In 2004 Michelle Lee won an International Fitness Transformation Challenge sponsored by EAS/Body for Life. Her twelve week Body for Life Transformation was so astounding the panel of expert Judges picked Michelle’s from thousands of entries giving her the title “2004 BFL Grand Champion of women, ages 50 and over.”
Michelle share her transformation story as a BFL Ambassador to groups across the country.
In 2006, Michelle raised the bar and trained to compete in the Ms. Natural Minnesota Figure Masters Competition. The NANBF Figure class focuses on the physique. A fit physique is encouraged, muscular development is not discouraged but overly bulky and striated muscles are. Michelle won a third place trophy. She continues to compete in yearly shows and plans to compete until she is 60 years old.
Michelle anchors the 5, 6 and 10 p.m. NBC6 newscasts on the Northland’s Newscenter based in Duluth, Minnesota.
And she continues to pay forward her new found health and wealth.
In 2005, The Northland’s NewsCenter and its Heart Healthy Host, Michelle Lee embarked on a comprehensive campaign to educate viewers about heart health and provide information about heart disease.
The campaign focuses on cutting edge medical developments, the need to know your personal Heart Disease Risk Factors and the stories of Northlanders who have taken Heart Healthy Action by making positive lifestyle changes and the results of those actions.
